Great Northern Beans
Like most white beans, Great Northerns belong to the family Phaseolus vulgaris. They are distinguished by their small size,oval shape and creamy white color. Great Northerns have high levels of vegetable protein, select necessary vitamins and mineral, fiber and complex carbohydrates. Also people with lactose intolerance or on a vegan diet can benefit in this non-dairy calcium (~175mg per 100gr).Their texture is slightly grainy and they have a delicate nutty flavor. They are great at absorbing flavors and will easily take on the spices or herbs used in cooking. Suitable for salads, soups, stews, ragouts, and purees.
